Sydney TowerSydney Tower is the second tallest freestanding structure in Sydney and Australia (Q1 Tower on the Gold Coast is the highest). It is also the second tallest observation tower in the Southern Hemisphere (after Auckland's Sky Tower in New Zealand).
Sydney Tower belongs to the World Federation of Great Towers.

The construction of this 305m length tower (1001 feet ) cost 36 millions A$, it is located at 100 Market Street, between Pitt and Castlereagh streets. It is accessible from the "Pitt Street Mall" and overlooks Centrepoint (name often used to designate the tower) -an office and retail center- . The tower is open to the public and is one of the most important tourist attractions of the city, it is also visible from near cities and neighborhoods.

when "AMP" managed the Centrepoint shopping center, the tower was officially referred to as "AMP Tower". But after the Westfield Group took control in December 2001, the name of the tower became "Sydney Tower". Sydney residents are still calling it "Centrepoint Tower" though.
