Koutoubia Mosque is a religious building built in the twelfth century in Marrakesh (Morocco) , it represents the art of the "Almohads".
"The mosque of the booksellers", (translated as "Jamma el koutoubia") was built according a T architecture. This building tradition was taken from the "Kairouans" (ninth century), and it is also found in Spain. It is in fact a "hypostyle" building which means it has a large courtyard surrounded by a portico and a big prayer hall.
Along with jemaa el Fna, El koutoubia mosque is one of the most beautiful monuments in Morocco, if you are looking to visit a real old but amazing mosque, Koutoubia would be the one !
